On the Edge - alive on our website and on bandcamp!

The lyrics to our song On the Edge came to me (Melissa) all at once on a morning in the early part of Covid lockdown; April 5th, to be exact.  I know this because later that day, I would learn that my older brother had taken his own life the night before.  I immediately felt like he sent me the song from beyond, like a way to understand and process his passing. The song came together relatively quickly, with the help of my husband and musical partner Matthew; he's really good with giving my lyrics/melodic ideas a shape and form to come alive.  We worked on the song (and others) during our lockdown livestreams.  We recorded a lot during that time, but nothing felt like it was ready for release.  In that time lapse, we left New Orleans for a new musical home in The Shoals area of North Alabama and continued to work the songs.
There is an anxiety and intensity bubbling across humanity, and I think we all feel a bit on edge; we're living through times where we're questioning what life is worth, what's truly important and how we spend our short time on the planet.  As I say at the end of the song: "For you tomorrow is another day; it's never promised, there's nothing left to say".  Like my brother always said - tomorrow is never promised.
