This week on All The Things, we welcome Melissa and Matthew DeOrazio, a husband-and-wife duo whose music and mission are deeply rooted in healing, creativity, and community.
Originally from Texas and New Orleans, Melissa and Matthew built their lives around music - performing, writing, and creating together. After years in the vibrant New Orleans scene, they felt a pull toward something new, a deeper sense of home and purpose. That calling led them to Muscle Shoals, a place known for drawing artists into its creative current. Since moving here after COVID, the DeOrazios have rediscovered their sound, their rhythm, and themselves through music.
In this episode, they share their journey of following intuition, their love for the Shoals, and the projects that keep their creative fire alive, including new music recorded at The NuttHouse Studio with producer Jimmy Nutt.
Beyond music, Melissa opens up about her work with Project Unbroken, a nonprofit organization supporting those affected by suicide, helping them process grief through movement, breath, and compassion as she has survived grief herself. Together, Melissa and Matthew also help restore The Village School, a historic creative space dedicated to keeping local music and art thriving.
It’s an inspiring conversation about music, healing, and the power of following where the spirit leads. A reminder that some places don’t just inspire songs but call you home.
